The use of conic equation as a damping function in robust estimation

The work presents the proposal of use of a new form of damping function in algorithm of adjustment, resistant to gross errors (robust estimation) occurring in geodetic observations. A general formula of the damping function has been derived and the practical verification has been done with a numerical example. The effectiveness of the proposed method has been evaluated with reference to other known damping functions, as well as to the classical least squares method.
