With the end of Special Commission 3 of IAG (Intern. Assoc. of Geodesy) an area ends where this Commission was in charge of the work related to Fundamental Constants. A new organization will take over in 2003 (Gen. Ass. of IUGG on July of Japan) but it appears appropriate to summarize the implication and importance of Fundamental Constants an to attempt to describe their role in future systems.
