Prof. Dr.-Ing. Karl-Friedrich Thöne wurde im Jahre 2008 zum DVWPräsidenten gewählt. Im Hauptamt leitet er die Abteilung Ländlicher Raum und Forsten im Thüringer Umweltministerium. Thöne hat eine Honorarprofessur für Bodenpolitik an der TU Dresden und ein Lehrauftrag an der TU München für Land Management und Land Tenure inne.

Professor Karl-Friedrich Thöne was elected president of the German Surveying Association (DVW) in 2008. His main professional post is in the Ministry of the Environment of the state of Thuringia, where he is head of the department responsible for rural zones and forests. Thöne holds an honorary professorship for land policy at Dresden Technical University, as well as a lectureship for land management and land tenure at Munich Technical University.
