25 Years of Research, Development and Transfer at I3mainz, Institute for Spatial Information and Surveying Technology at Mainz University of Applied Sciences

Das i3mainz – Institut für Raumbezogene Informations- und Messtechnik der Hochschule Mainz beging am 6. Februar 2023 sein 25-jähriges Bestehen. Es war das Verdienst von Wolfgang Böhler, Professor am Fachbereich Geoinformatik und Vermessung, die Weichen so zu stellen, dass Anfang 1998 die formale Gründung und die Anerkennung des i3mainz durch das Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Weiterbildung, Forschung und Kultur (MWWFK) des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz erfolgen konnte. Bei der Gründung spielte das Römisch-Germanische Zentralmuseum, heute Leibniz-Zentrum für Archäologie (LEIZA), eine zentrale Rolle, bald kamen zahlreiche weitere Partner aus den Bereichen Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Verwaltung hinzu. Im Folgenden geben wir den Lesern einen Überblick über unsere Forschungsthemen, wichtige Projekte und aktuelle Promotionen.
i3mainz – Institute for Spatial Information and Surveying Technology at Mainz University of Applied Sciences celebrated its 25th anniversary on 6 February 2023. It was thanks to Wolfgang Böhler, Professor at the Department of Geoinformatics and Surveying, that the course was set so that i3mainz could be formally founded and recognised by the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Science, Further Education, Research and Culture (MWWFK) at the beginning of 1998. The Romano-Germanic Central Museum, now the Leibniz Centre for Archaeology (LEIZA), played a central role in the foundation, and was soon joined by numerous other partners from the fields of science, business and administration. In the following, we provide readers with an overview of our research topics, important projects and current doctorates.
