This paper presents a review of artificial intelligence (AI) ethics literature to identify paths that could be fruitful in developing ethical guidelines for AI applications in landscape architecture (LA). One complication comes from the different ways that AI manifests in design, resulting in a suggested framework with three dimensions of AI in LA: underlying structural types of AI; areas of application for AI; and categories of ethical concerns. The framework can support specificity and conceptual exploration as the community identifies both principles and guidelines for AI ethics in LA.
