Public Life Studies (PLS) are widely used to evaluate public space, yet findings are often communicated through charts that flatten spatial and temporal nuance. This methods paper presents a hybrid workflow – community-based analog activity mapping, manual digitization, and algorithmic analysis/visualization – to generate “PLS datascapes”. Using two temporary public space installations as case studies, we demonstrate how these visualizations reveal fine-grained spatial patterns and timebased behaviours that would remain hidden in conventional outputs, supporting more targeted design iteration and public communication of the social performance of public spaces
