GIS-Landscape Quality Assessment Using Social Media Data

This paper aims to demonstrate and discuss how social media data may serve to elucidate and determine landscape scenic values for planning purposes. Analysing landscape perception by employing social media data has the potential to be an efficient and effective way of integrating information on public landscape perception into planning practice. The paper presents a GIS-based approach to landscape quality assessment that includes data harvested from social media. The approach was developed to be used for planning purposes at a variety of different scales.
