Geodesign as an Educational Tool: A Case Study in South Cache Valley, Utah

Past Geodesign case studies show that the software Geodesign successfully supports interdisciplinary groups of experts, planners and university students in developing scenarios for future change. This paper focuses on the educational aspects of using Geodesign in the studio setting with both planning and design students. In the South Cache Valley, Utah case study the experience of participants in a Geodesign workshop was evaluated. In addition, landscape architecture and bioregional planning graduate students assessed the benefits and difficulties they experienced in an eight week Geodesign studio and workshop. These findings inform recommendations for developing a Geodesign learning module for secondary education.
